History of Care

After more than 50 years as Hallworth House, our proudest achievement is becoming a celebrated fixture in the charming East Side of Providence, providing excellent care and positive patient outcomes.

This could not be made possible without the unwavering partnership of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. Robert Q. Hallworth, who died in 1966— after his wife and with no children, left his entire estate to the Church.

The Diocese used a portion of the gift to build a Medicare Center on the Northeast side of Cathedral Close. “Hallworth House” was named for its generous donor.

With the help of the Diocese, church services are held in Hallworth House for our residents. They are the beginning of our decades-long story, and we’re thrilled to serve the surrounding community with the Diocese by our side.
